So you wanna be Jerrica ‘Jem’ Benton for Halloween? Call up your girl band, and join the club! We partnered up with the super fabulous friend and talented makeup artist Texas Dela Rosa to create this modern beauty look inspired by this 80s classic. Considering both he and Miranda are legit Jem fans, Texas knew just what was needed to transform Anna Lise into this bona fide 80s rocker babe. Luckily, you can easily get the look at home just in time for Halloween with this simple beauty tutorial from the master himself!

Step 1: Use your foundation of choice, and lightly apply it all over your face. Texas used MAC NW20 Pro Long Wear on Anna Lise. Touch up any areas that need extra coverage with your favorite concealer. Apply a light powder to set.

Step 2:  Apply an eye primer to prevent creasing, and let it set for a few minutes. We like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Step 3: Layer on the sparkle! Now’s a good time to start applying your ‘Jem And The Holograms’ Flash Tattoos to that pretty face of yours. Carefully cut out the designs you want to wear from the sheet, and remove the clear liner. Place the tattoo onto your skin, and gently press it onto your skin with a wet washcloth. Remove the paper once it is fully soaked, and pat the tattoo with the wet washcloth. To allow the tattoo to set into your skin,  do not to move or stretch the areas where the tattoo was applied for about 20 minutes.

Step 4: Get those brows on fleek! Texas filled in Anna Lise’s brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil in Medium Brown to achieve that full, groomed 80s eyebrow look.

Step 5: With an eyeshadow brush, blend a bright pink eyeshadow (Texas used MAC eyeshadow in Passionate) from the lash line to the brow, connecting the inner corners of your eye to the top of your brow and the outer corner of your eyes to the end of your brow. Then, blend the pink out from the lower waterline. He advises, “Have fun with it and go as dark or pigmented as you want.  Jem is all about having fun, so bright and bold works best.” With a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush, apply a deep purple into the crease and blend. For this, Texas used a purple Ben Nye cream to create the initial depth in the crease. He then layered on MAC Pigment B14 and iridescent pink-purple shadow with a cotton swab to add extra sparkle and dimension. PS Texas found this rad Urban Decay ‘Electric’ palette that would be a perfect one stop shop to achieve all the eyeshadow looks for your girl band…rock on!

Step 6: With a thin eyeliner brush, apply a gold sparkle liquid liner or cream liner.  Texas achieved the Jem look with the gold color from the Make Up Forever Flash Palette….and we’re now obsessed with this stuff, just sayin’.

Step 7: Use a good defining mascara to finish the look. Texas applied several coats of MAC Zoom Lash to Anna Lise’s lashes.

Step 8: Apply a swoosh of blush to the apples of your cheeks. Texas used Nars Orgasm to bring a peachy glow to the look.

Step 9:  Add a pop of brightness to the lips with Sephora Luster Matte Pink Flush lip color, and top it off with Sephora lipgloss in #28.

Step 10: For the final touch, apply the Swarovski crystals around the face to add some rockstar-worthy sparkle. Ta da!

Just a note on Anna Lise’s perfectly punk pink hair…it’s the real deal! She used a mixture of Pravana pink colors on her bleached blonde hair to get that vibrant pink. If you aren’t as committed to the look, spray hair chalks or wigs are a good alternative. Sally Beauty Supply, Walgreens or costume shops are a good place to find them.

Step 1: Use your foundation of choice, and lightly apply it all over your face. Texas used a combo of MAC NW18 and NW20 Pro Long Wear on Alexis’ skin.

Step 4: With an eyeshadow brush, apply gold eyeshadow all over the lid and slightly under the brow.  In the crease, layer and blend the bronze color with a fluffy blending brush. Texas used Kat Von D’s Ludwig Palette to achieve this eye look. PS Texas found this rad Urban Decay ‘Electric’ palette that would be a perfect one stop shop to achieve all the eyeshadow looks for your girl band…rock on!

Step 5: Texas used a MAC 266 brush and MAC Black Tracks Fluid liner to get the perfect winged eye, but you can use any thin angle brush and good quality cream/gel liner for this look. We were totally smitten kitten’s with Alexis’ cat eye liner….it was so flawless!

Step 6: Use a good defining mascara to finish the look. Texas applied several coats of MAC Zoom Lash to Alexis’ lashes.

Step 7: Get those brows on fleek! Texas filled in Alexis’ brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil in Medium Brown to achieve that full, groomed 80s eyebrow look.

Step 8: Swoosh some bronzer in the hollows of your cheeks, and swirl some blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Texas used Nars blush in Deep Throat and Nars bronzer in Laguna to bring a rosy sculpted glow to Alexis’ face.

Step 9: Texas added a few highlights and contours with the Nars Hungry Hearts palette.  He applied the lighter color under Alexis’ eyes, and applied the darker color to blend the  blush and bronzer together.

Step 10:  Finish the look with MAC Patent Lip Polish in Fearless, topped with Sephora Lip Gloss in #28.

Step 11: For the final touch, apply the Swarovski crystals around the face to add some rockstar-worthy sparkle.

To add a multi-tonal look to Alexis’ dark brunette hair, we used spray hair chalk in maroon, gold and pink from Sally Beauty Supply. Very rock-chic!

To achieve this #TrulyOutrageous teal look for Halloween, Austin-based makeup artist Texas Dela Rosa went with bold colors and simple application techniques to keep Aja Leith’s 80s inspired ‘punk rock mermaid’ look easy to recreate at home.

Step 1: Use your foundation of choice, and lightly apply it all over your face. Texas used a combo of MAC NW18 and NW20 Pro Long Wear to even out Melody’s skin.

Step 4: With an eyeshadow brush, Texas applied MAC Aquadisiac A62 light teal eyeshadow over the lid, focusing the color directly above the lash line. Towards the outer corner of the eye, he used a turquoise sparkle pigment. PS Texas found this rad Urban Decay ‘Electric’ palette that would be a perfect one stop shop to achieve all the eyeshadow looks for your girl band…rock on!

Step 5: Texas used Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Deep End to achieve Melodys’ colorful cat eye look. Apply from the inside of the eye, extending outwards to get the perfect flick. Apply a bright blue liner to the lower waterline, like Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Liner in 7L.

Step 6: Use a good defining mascara to finish the look. Texas applied several coats of MAC Zoom Lash to Melody’s lashes.

Step 7: Get those brows on fleek! Texas filled in Melody’s brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil in Medium Brown to achieve that full, groomed 80s eyebrow look.

Step 8: Swirl some blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Texas used Nars blush in Orgasm to bring a peachy glow to Melody’s face.

Step 9: Texas added a few highlights and contours with the Nars Hungry Hearts palette.  He applied the lighter color under Melody’s cheeks and eyes, and applied the darker color to blend the  blush together.

Step 10:  Add a pop to your lips with MAC Patent Polish in Kittenish, with a little Sephora lip gloss in #28 layered on top.

Step 11: For the final touch, apply the Swarovski crystals around the face to add some rockstar-worthy sparkle.

To add a two toned look to Melody’s hair, we did a deep side part and sprayed half her hair teal with a spray hair chalk from Sally Beauty Supply. Turned out pretty cool, if you ask us!

We’ve seen it on the runways, the streets, music festivals, and beaches…yep, we’re talking about face Flash! We’ve noticed you babes adding a little bit of sparkle to your cheekbones, bling to your brows, and glimmer to your eyes in lieu of liner. It’s unexpected, it’s daring, it’s a statement. We’re totally into the look (which probably isn’t hard to guess…that’s Miranda on the bottom left rocking some power brows with our Dakota tats!) – especially in the summer months when makeup seems to melt off our face!

What say you, Flashionistas? Is this a trend you’d wear IRL?
